As a former automotive dealer principal, I've seen first-hand the stress the industry is facing right now. Worldwide, Covid-19 wreaked havoc on the entire automotive industry; from supply chain interruption to massive drops in inventory and higher used car prices. These issues lead to new vehicle inventory backlogs, stressed and disgruntled customers, and overworked factory workers, dealers, managers, and sales staff. The automotive industry is male-dominated and this is related to these two episodes, as men are FOUR TIMES more likely to commit suicide than women!
These factors have taken a massive toll on the entire automotive industry and dealerships worldwide. We address these issues in two TV episodes aimed at the automotive marketplace. Lost in this sea of distress is a hidden and seldom talked-about fact of the post-Covid era: Suicide and mental health challenges, such as mobbing, (group intimidation), and overworked and stressed staff, abound in the industry. These range from the factories to the dealerships, repair shops, staff, owners, and managers in every dealership worldwide.
In addition to that video, we feature Speed Kills; an episode dedicated to keeping teenage drivers safe on the highways. Sometimes vehicular suicide is deemed a traffic fatality, with less stigma that suicide by vehicle and young drivers are particularly vulnerable.
Both are streamed on ROKU, YouTube, and other networks worldwide. These are available in the homes and businesses of EVERY MARKET in Canada, the US, and overseas. See all of these episodes below. Suicide and Mental Health in the Automotive Industry-
For the last few years, Covid-19 has wreaked havoc on the entire automotive industry; from supply chain interruption to massive drops in inventory and higher used car prices. Lost in this sea of distress is a hidden and seldom talked-about fact of the post-Covid era. Suicide and mental health challenges, such as mobbing, and overworked and stressed staff, abound in the industry; from the factory to the dealership, repair shop, staff, and managers in every dealership worldwide. This episode will address these challenges. Ben, a U.K.-based non-profit organization, revealed in its study, that one in two motor workers has poor mental health. It also brought to attention that 25 percent of automotive businesses have reported the inability of their employees to work due to poor mental health. A whopping 64% of employees' wellbeing was affected due to poor sleep, which led to increased anxiety and depression. See the related article and quote.
Speed Kills- The finished video will be 30 minutes in length, with sponsor information and commercials included. This initial 11-minute video was initiated and produced for the RCMP, to help teens slow down and live, by avoiding speeding and vehicle crashes. The goal is to feature this finished episode in all Senior Secondary and High schools across Canada, the US, and foreign countries. It was first featured on a trial basis in Kelowna, BC, and was very well received by students and parents alike. Remember these students are FUTURE automotive customers! This video will be updated with new information about texting and distracted driving, how to communicate with teens on the importance of safe driving, how the new drug laws impact teenage driving, as well as in-depth interviews of survivors of accidents, and the lessons learned. Once the additional video footage, interviews, and updated information are added, ALL SPONSORS and automotive commercials will be inserted. Vehicle accidents are one of the leading causes of death in young people worldwide. Sometimes vehicular suicide is deemed a traffic fatality, with less stigma that suicide by vehicle and young drivers are particularly vulnerable.
