Five Minute Movie is a division of Handcraft Film, a movie and TV production company based in Kelowna, BC, Canada. This new website channel will showcase movies one to twenty minutes in length! (Not all items in the dollar store are a dollar, so the films do vary in length!) We will stream on ROKU, YouTube, and other platforms. We will add other content and movies for viewing on computers, TVs, tablets, phones, and other mobile devices. See the links below to submit YOUR film, trailer or video.
Each five-minute movie will stream with a nominal fee to the provider, either paid one-time or monthly. Handcraft Film and Five Minute Movie reserve the right to reduce the fee or in some cases waive the streaming fee outright, at our discretion. Rates are not yet determined and will be finalized once our streaming and bandwidth costs are finalized.
For now there is NO STREAMING FEE to any provider.
This fee helps us offset the cost of adding them to the channel, and our increased cost of bandwidth on the various streaming channels. We will also offer discounted rates depending on the number of movies supplied. Contact us for more information on submitting your film(s).
We will offer FREE streaming to the first ten (10) film movie providers on our platform.
Contact us to upload your video or film to our platform. We reserve the right to accept or refuse any video.
We offer production for a Five Minute Movie project, not to exceed five minutes in length. We quote a price depending on many variables such as footage sources, photography, scriptwriting and other factors. We charge a retainer/deposit of $500 Canadian. NOTE: THE RETAINER IS NOT THE FULL AMOUNT of film cost. Here are the payment terms.
A $500 Canadian retainer forms the deposit to commence interviews, storyboarding, and filming.
25% of the agreed-upon amount when we provide the proof script of that project.
25% of the agreed-upon amount, less the deposit amount when proof of filming has taken place with client approval of content, prior to editing.
Balance of the agreed-upon amount when the film or TV show has completed final editing and sent to you to view, and approved, prior to upload to YouTube.

My name is Colette Martin. I am the mom of three beautiful grown boys. Despite my journey with PTSD, I am passionate about helping others. I've built a community within a short time to raise awareness and educate others on intimate partner violence, MMIW. Bill 17 was passed in the New Brunswick legislature in my honour in Dec, 2022. I did not allow my trauma to be my ending: I turned my pain into passion and power so that others do not suffer the same long recovery journey I endured. In July of 2023 I was part of a short documentary filmed in Waterloo Ontario, called, "She Is Your Neighbour: A Short Documentary." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ElhK-qOENQ

An ex-self-harmer, Michelle suffers from anxiety issues and depression, which she keeps under control with medication. Having experienced traumatic losses in her family through mental health illnesses (one of which was brought on by violent ex-relationships and gang rape), Michelle has come through everything life has thrown at her so she can tell her story.
Women and children are at risk worldwide from domestic violence, femicide, and assault from men and Intimate Partners. A very short PSA on keeping women safe from sexual assault. According to the Elizabeth Fry Society of Kelowna, on average a woman is abused or assaulted eight times before she reports the abuse! It is also estimated a high majority of sexual assaults are NEVER reported, for fear of the assailant, or for the trauma being relived in reporting the crime and possible recurring trauma during a trial. Sexual assaults are a worldwide epidemic and affect men, women, girls, teens, and even children. They are avoidable and preventable and we must do all we can to stop this! See our short video.

Speed Kills- (Finished video approximately 30 to 60 minutes with sponsor information included). This is the initial 11-minute video we co-produced for the RCMP in Kelowna in 1996 to help teens slow down and live, by avoiding speeding and vehicle crashes. This video will be updated with new information about texting and distracted driving, how to communicate with teens on the importance of safe driving, how new drug laws impact teen driving, as well as in-depth interviews of survivors of accidents and the lessons learned. Vehicle accidents are one of the leading causes of death in young people worldwide. See the initial video. https://youtu.be/DOsLqckou64

This short video shows the history of how Indigenous people were removed from their land, put into non-traditional homes, and often not allowed to return to their own land. They now pass on those stories from one generation to another. Remember, we are ALL immigrants unless we were born Indigenous. This native issues video recognizes the fact we are all immigrants, unless we or our ancestors, were born here! Many thousands of Indigenous children were removed from their homes and forced to attend residential schools across Canada, the US, and other countries. Many died and were victims of abuse during their short lives.

Few films will ever capture a range of emotions like this iconic film, What Dreams May Come, featuring Robin Williams. The movie deals with torment, our perception of Heaven and Hell, suicide, death of a loved one, and a man's journey even after his life is finished. Such a tremendous performance by a remarkable actor; a film and the trailer prove movie trailers are some of the best short films ever made.
Music videos can be some of the best examples of short films! I chose this one because of the electric combination of dance, piano, backup singers, lyrics to keep others alive, and an amazing voice! When you think of a music video as a short film, it takes on a new and memorable meaning. Check out this great video by Jonathan Roy, called Keeping Me Alive.
This short documentary/music video by Teddy G. Gatto and produced by shows how important it is to have hope for everyone.
